October 4, 2021 – Kyoto, Japan – HACARUS INC, the leading provider of big insights from small data, today announced the beginning of its partnership with Kyoto University’s Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences for research on the molecular mechanisms that control cancer progression.
“One area that HACARUS excels in is image analysis. By combining our AI technology with Professor Ito’s extensive knowledge of cancer cell behavior, I hope that we can uncover many of the secrets behind how cancer cells function and behave. We are enthusiastic about this partnership and want to improve the prognosis process of cancer patients around the world,” said Kenshin Fujiwara, CEO at HACARUS.
From studying cancer cells, Professor Ito has discovered that cancer cells receive a large portion of their nourishment from an amino acid called BCAA. By uncovering the cancer cell’s metabolism related to BCAA, the research has the potential to find ways to inactivate cancer cells in the future.
Bringing together Professor Ito’s biomedical approach and HACARUS’ years worth of image analysis experience, the research is expected to develop methods for discovering new molecular mechanisms, bringing us one step closer to understanding the mechanism of cancer progression.
HACARUS INC. provides big insights from small data and has since its founding in 2014 supplied solutions in 100+ AI projects across the Medical and Manufacturing fields. Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, and backed by Osaka Gas and Miyako Capital (Kyoto University) among others, its technology enables humans to make better, faster, and more reliable decisions, based on data-driven insights. HACARUS’ proprietary AI engine is built using Sparse Modeling, a method that understands data like a human would – by its unique key features and is far more resource, time, and energy-efficient when compared to Deep Learning.
