A look at the future of automation in medical research to be on display during Medical Fair Asia 2020.
DECEMBER, 9, 2020 – Singapore, Singapore – HACARUS, the leading provider of lightweight and explainable AI today announced that it will be showcasing a joint solution for cell analysis that combines HACARUS’ expertise in AI powered medical imaging analysis with Mitsubishi Electric’s advanced industrial robots. The collaboration will be on display during Medical Fair Asia (December 9th-18th), the leading medical and healthcare event in Asia, held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is the first time we are demonstrating this collaboration outside of Japan, and we believe that this is the perfect venue for its premiere showing – I am look forward to helping new customers and partners to achieve their goals using our novel AI technology“ said Kenshin Fujiwara, CEO of HACARUS INC.
The collaboration is focused on automating cell analysis lab work, which is achieved by linking Hacarus’ AI system and Mitsubishi Electric’s industrial robot. The seamlessly integrated solution includes a three stage setup, starting with the robot carefully preparing and transporting cell samples for examination by a digital microscope, powered by HACARUS AI. Once the sample has been analyzed, recorded, and classified the robot arm processes it according – autonomously handing off to the next instance.
The setup vastly reduces the human resources needed in image analysis, and not only provides accurate analysis with less errors – but also increase the volume of experiments. This technology is especially useful due to the increasing demands for remote work imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected ability for humans to perform experiments in person.
In addition to the demonstration, HACARUS will also be speaking during Medical Fair Asia as part of the SHOW HIGHLIGHTS section including on:
10 Dec (Thu) 1530 – 1545
Session: Lessons Learned from Applying AI to Aid in Medical Diagnosis – Case Studies from Japan
By: Kenshin Fujiwara, CEO and Founder
17 Dec (Thu) 1500 – 1600
In the Spotlight: How the Pandemic Changed the use of Blockchain, AI & Cloud in Healthcare
By: Adrian V.J Sossna, VP of Global Sales

Looking ahead, the versatility of HACARUS’ and Mitsubishi Electric’s solution means that it can be expanded beyond cell analysis, into fields such as drug discovery and regenerative medicine.
HACARUS INC, founded 2014 in Kyoto, Japan is the leading provider of Explainable Lightweight AI Tools, backed by Osaka Gas and Miyako Capital (Kyoto University) among others. Its solutions are used in the Medical field to enable humans to make better, faster and more reliable decisions, based on AI driven insights. Hacarus’ proprietary AI engine is built using Sparse Modeling, an AI method that understands data like a human would – by its unique key features and is far more resource, time and energy efficient when compared to Deep Learning.
